Auburn is famous for a few things. We’re above the fog, but below the snow. We have a thriving endurance athlete community. We are surrounded by expansive views and picturesque rivers. And, BEER! We have some of the best breweries in the greater Sacramento area. One look at this weekend’s forecast and you’re bound to start feeling like getting outside- and nothing pairs better with a hiking adventure than a well-earned beer!
There are so many great hikes within a short drive from Crooked Lane Brewing, these are a few of our favorites!
Hidden Falls Regional Park - This is one of the most local-famous hiking trails in the area, but it’s definitely worth a mention. In Spring, the waterfall is really spectacular. This hike is especially wonderful on a weekday, but the trails are nice and wide and don’t feel especially crowded even on the weekend. Pro Tip: if you do plan to make a trip on the weekend, you must make a reservation to park: https://www.placer.ca.gov/6106/Hidden-Falls-Regional-Park
Robie Point - This trailhead goes to a number of trails, offering stunning views and lots of exercise depending on your approach. Lots of loops are available that you can scout via apps such as AllTrails - I recommend an out-and-back hike to Murphy’s gate.
Confluence (Western States) Trail to Calcutta Falls- After dipping down into the American River canyon and just past the bridge to Cool, find a place to park and you’ll be treated to a network of trails up and down the river. This hike takes you over No Hands bridge and down a section of the western states trail, to a lovely little waterfall. On the way back you can take a side trip down to the American River for some rock skipping.
Rainbow Rock Vista Point - A trail of moderate difficulty, this trail is a touch hard to find and not busy, but so worth it! it's an out and back with a good climb out, and you'll want to leave a bit of time to take in the fabulous view!
Dave Moore Nature Trail - One of the most kid-friendly hikes around, this short loop trail offers plenty of fun features like trees to climb and rocks shaped like bears or dinosaurs, and the midpoint lands at a beach on the river’s edge. It’s great for all ages.
